Although I am unfamiliar with this popular icon amongst kids (and some adults I assume), it was a lot of fun carving out the chocolate cake and working with not-so-friendly fondant on a hot day.
I was curious about the show because I really have never seen an episode of it growing up. I grew up watching a show like THIS, so I thought I’d at least find out what it’s about.
The Railway Series, which the TV Show Thomas and Friends is based on, is written by Reverend Wilbert Vere Awdry and his son Christopher Awdry in UK. Of the 42 books in series, 26 were written by the Reverend and the rest were written by his son. Apparently the stories were based on real-life events and started with the Reverend’s passion for railway. The first book was published in 1945 and it was first broadcasted on the ITV british network in September 1984 as Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends. I didn’t know this, but the show featured some big celebrity narrators including Ringo Starr Alec Baldwin and Pierce Brosnan! Kids do have good taste in their shows! At last…. Time to reveal the mystery behind my last post of two random photos!!

TRS-80 Model IV for Computer loving dad!
Tandy Radio Shack TRS 80 Model IV is a computer that my dad-in-law used to own and one of the first computers that my hubby Nick “experienced”. I wanted to make something special for my DIL’s birthday and since he loves his computers, I decided to bring this none-existant computer to life… and this time as an edible version!
I was curious about the name Tandy Radio Shack (TRS), and I found out a few things that I didn’t know. Computer world is not my forte, and maybe everyone else knows this but me, but here it goes. Tandy Corporation was a leather goods company founded in 1919 in Texas that bought Radio Shack in the 1960s and renamed it Tandy Radio Shack. TRS-80 was born in the late 1970s and early 1980s with its first model and it was very popular amongst home users, hobbyist and small businesses, that cost about $600 US. By 1983, Model IV came out they were selling at a retail price of $2000 US! (you can go here and here to read more about it)
Well, now we (I) know. Next time there’s a question about Tandy Corp before becoming Tandy Radio Shack, now we know that they were leather goods company.
Anyways, my DIL loved it and the first thing he cut off was the keyboard portion off the computer itself. So logical we are sometimes…
Well, now that one of the two photos have been explained from my post, you guessed it. The Big Green Egg BBQ will be posted next and yes, it’s a CAKE!!!
Thanks for reading!
